Bathroom replacement

This case study is based on a frequently occurring situation, the bathroom replacement! This bathroom was not tiled, had lino on the floor and an ageing bathroom suite. The customer wanted to fully tile the bathroom, both walls and floor, install a new bathroom suite and heated towel rail. They also wanted to give the room an illusion of more space and install modern lighting.

The first stage in the project was for the plumber to remove the old suite and rip out the lino. Then the pipe work and existing electrics were examined. The walls were made good where needed and everything was measured out. The ceiling was marked out and drilled for the new spotlights and the bathroom was now ready for the new suite and tiling.

Firstly the bath was installed and the waste connected. The bath panel was left off as this is always put on last to prevent damage and so the plumber can check for any leaks. Once the bath was in place, the toilet and sink were installed and plumbed in. With the new suite in place the bathroom was ready for tiling.
Firstly the back wall was tiled, using black tiles up one row, which is where the huge mirror would sit. The rest of the room was tiled with large white tiles. All of the wall tiles were then grouted and left to dry. Once dry the huge mirror was put into place and one final row of black tiling above it and again grouted. The floor was then tiled, the tiles used here were black slate. Once the floor tiling had dried the floor tiles were grouted with white grout, which really set them off. Once the grout was dry the the heated towel rail was fitted and all of the plumbing reconnected and checked. Once the plumber was happy the spotlights were wired in and secured. Last but not least the bath panel was put on to complete the look of the room.
The finished bathroom has a fresh, luxurious feel with an illusion of being more spacious due to the mirror.
